Comprehensive Examination and Diagnosis

At DP Dental we recognize that everyone has unique wants and needs, it is therefore our highest priority to provide individualized care for every one of our patients.

During the initial Comprehensive Examination and Diagnosis, our doctors will begin with a comprehensive oral assessment. During this examination we will be looking at -

  • Teeth and the way you bite
  • Original restorations  – Filling, crowns, veneers etc which may call for additional work due to wear
  • The health of your gums and surrounding bone around each tooth
  • Your tongue, throat, cheeks & lips for signs of oral cancer
  • Jaw joint evaluation for signs of strain

Dental Consultation

Once the examination is complete, our doctors will take a series of digital photographs of the patient's teeth and bite position. The photographs will immediately be presented on our iMacs to allow for an interactive discussion of findings and treatment plans with the patient.

These initial photographs will also serve as a baseline record for our patients, allowing our doctors and patients to track the treatment progress during subsequent visits.

Our doctors may also recommend the patient to take a few dental X-rays to help uncover hidden dental structures, bone loss and cavities that cannot be seen during a visual examination.
